School Choice Research Intern with Cleveland Transformation Alliance via Summer on the Cuyahoga

Internship Description:
During the summer of 2020, the Cleveland Transformation Alliance engaged in a School Choice Family Listening Campaign. The successful candidate will take that work to the next level by developing a research tool to gain more information about parent/caregiver thoughts about school "safety." During the second piece of the internship, the successful candidate will gather documents and data to compare the most academically successful schools to learn what is contributing to their success, including dollars spend on direct instruction. This work will focus mainly on charter schools, initially, but may also focus on district schools as time allows. 
 
Skill Requirements:
Ability to gather, read, and understand data. Ability to take complex written information from community surveys and synthesize it into digestible data. Comfort in engaging and meeting with diverse populations. Comfort with independent work, but also willing to engage as an important member of the CTA team. 
 
Typical Day:
Check-in with organizational leadership, independent work, development of research tools and data analysis, communication with key stakeholders both locally and nationally.

Summer 2021 Covid-19 Contingency Planning
Should any internship need to be offered virtually due to ongoing concerns related to the Coronavirus pandemic – SOTC will work with employers and students accordingly. This may mean an in-person programming experience with a virtual work experience OR a fully virtual work and program experience. No decisions will be made until early spring 2021 and students should anticipate that internships will either be in-person or remote with an in-person programming experience.
